WorldSkills Barbados takes part in Virtual Cooking Competition!

The Fifth Chilean Professional Technical Education Festival, WorldSkills Chile Competition, begins on Monday, November 08, 2021, and runs until Friday, November 12, 2021. 

Over 400 students and teachers will meet to put their skills and abilities to the test in the most diverse technical assessments aimed at the sector of PT Middle and Higher Education.

Barbados will join six other member countries of WorldSkills Americas to take part in the WorldSkills Chile 2021. Barbados will be represented in the cooking competition by Jessica Cummins. Joining her will be Barbados’ Expert for Cooking, Chef Peter Edey, who will serve as a coach and a Judge.

The cooking competition begins on Monday, November 08 at 2 p.m. with a knowledge assessment and continues with the skill component on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

WorldSkills Chile 2021 will see:

  • 17 competing skills: 9 digital / 8 face-to-face / all with live broadcast.
  • Seven (7) Official Venues
  • Delegation of 402 people: 212 competitors / 172 experts / 18 expert heads.

FYI here are some livestream tips:

  • A professional TV-style set will be set up with conductors who will guide the week.
  • There will be opening and closing events, with national and foreign delegations connected via Zoom.
  • There will be five (5) live type blocks with skills, in which the 17 skills are grouped.
  • There will be animated capsules, videos of partner organizations, interviews with public authorities, interactive contests and international links.

It will be transmitted via zoom for competing delegations and via YouTube channel and Instagram live of WorldSkills Chile, for external audiences.
