Flashback! - Some of the members of the Barbados delegation to the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 competition.

The Media Pool A Initiative is a component of the WorldSkills Competition which is held biennially in one of the 85 member countries belonging to WorldSkills International (WSI). The next competition, WorldSkills Shanghai 2022, is scheduled to take place October 12 - 17.

Media Pool A was first organized in 2017, when WorldSkills International secured funding from the competition organizer for travel and packages for 15 international journalists to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. The programme extended to include up to 30 journalists for WorldSkills Kazan 2019, and the organisers will fund up to 50 international journalists for the upcoming WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 competition.

WorldSkills Barbados is seeking to nominate one local journalist to be a part of the pool providing coverage of the 2022 competition, with particular emphasis on the national team expected to represent Barbados in several skill areas including: Cooking, Hairdressing and Restaurant Service, as well as Experts who will serve as coaches and take part in the Judging process for the three respective skill areas.

Local journalists and reporters are therefore encouraged to apply for the chance to join international journalists as they cover the 46th WorldSkills Competition.
