The main objectives of the WorldSkills Barbados Competition are to:
- Promote excellence in skills development and improve the performance standards of the workforce
- Increase the self-esteem of the participants and inspire more young people to be enterprising in their careers
- Promote the value of technical and vocational skills and training
- Increase the participation of employers in technical and vocational education and training (TVET)
- Challenge young people, their teachers, trainers and employers to achieve world class standards of competence in commerce, services and industry.
